Care guide

Made to be worn. Made to be remembered.

Your ring will go everywhere with you. A few simple habits keep the diamond bright and the gold beautiful, so it looks as good in twenty years as it does today.

At home

A gentle clean

Diamonds love grease: hand cream, soap and skin oils settle behind the stone and dull its sparkle. Five minutes every week or two brings it right back.

  1. Soak

Leave your ring in a small bowl of warm water with a drop of mild washing-up liquid for a few minutes.

  2. Brush

Use a soft baby toothbrush to clean gently behind the stone and between the claws and pavé, where most of the film collects.

  3. Rinse

Rinse under warm running water, with the plug in or over a bowl, never an open drain.

  4. Dry

Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid paper towels, which can leave fibres and fine scratches.

Every day

When to take it off

A diamond is very hard, but it isn't unbreakable, and gold settings are softer than the stones they hold. A few moments call for a pause.

  • At the gym, lifting weights or doing sport
  • Gardening, moving house and heavy housework
  • Swimming in the sea or in chlorinated pools
  • Cleaning with bleach or household chemicals
  • Applying hand cream, perfume, self-tan or hairspray (put your ring on last)
  • Sleeping, especially rings with raised settings

At rest

Storing & travelling

Diamonds can scratch other jewelry, and even each other. Give each piece its own place. Your FLORA box, with its soft ivory interior, is made for exactly that.

  • Keep each ring in its own box or pouch
  • Never leave rings on the edge of a sink or in a pocket
  • Travel with your box in your hand luggage
  • Keep your certificate in its FLORA envelope, somewhere safe

Now & then

Little checks

Claws can loosen gradually with everyday knocks. A quick look now and then catches small things before they become big ones.

  • Gently tap the ring beside your ear. A stone that rattles or clicks needs attention
  • If a claw catches on knitwear, it may have lifted
  • Look for gaps in pavé where a tiny stone should be
  • If anything feels different, stop wearing the ring and get in touch

Caring for your metal

Gold, white gold & silver

Every metal ages a little differently. Here's what to expect from yours.
  • 14K gold

Our everyday favourite. Harder-wearing than higher karats, so claws and pavé stay secure. Over time it softens to a gentle satin sheen, which a professional polish restores.

  • 18K gold

Richer in colour and softer, so it shows light scratches sooner. It's lovely for anyone happy to take a little extra care.

  • White gold

Usually finished with a bright rhodium layer. Over the years it may warm slightly in tone, and it can be re-plated to bring back the crisp white.

  • Silver

Silver naturally tarnishes with air and moisture. Store it dry, wipe it with a silver cloth, and wear it often. Wearing it helps.

Sizing & questions

Need a resize, or something feels loose?

Many rings can be resized, depending on the design. If a stone ever feels loose, stop wearing your ring and get in touch with a photo. We'll advise you on what to do next.
